Welcome to 2019: How to stay FOCUSED + RELENTLESS on your journey to becoming the ultimate boss babe

CAN YOU BELIEVE IT’S ALREADY THE END OF JANUARY!?

I know I can’t. This year has been flying by, and we have already done so much. We started off the year at the Pasea Hotel + Spa for a two-day Pakistani event, then we had a baby arrival party at Hotel Marina Del Rey. Last weekend we got David + Sergio down the aisle at Oak Canyon Nature Center and transformed David’s Auntie Connie’s backyard into a boho meets masculine shindig for 90 of their closest friends + family. It was such a fun party and their guests drank + danced the night away. We will also be showcasing two new designs at two upcoming bridal shows this next week - this Sunday we’ll be at Old Ranch Country Club, and at Hotel Maya next Thursday. We already had our first ABC-OC meeting of the year, and the projects aren’t stopping anytime soon.

We stay busy over here at LW HQ!

On a personal note, if you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen that I have a new beau (after 2.5 years of being single!) and I just have to say, he is amazing. I’m sure I will get into the story of how we met one day soon (and try to drag him to be in the video hehe), but for now I just want to share that I am uber happy and he is just the greatest. It’s funny because we are complete opposites in so many ways, but also so similar in others, which makes our partnership that much better. To all my single ladies out there, it’s true what they say - he will come along when you least expect it. Just be patient.

Now, on to the new year stuff. To be honest, I have never been a fan of New Year’s Resolutions. To me, resolutions, much like diets or short-term workout regimens, are fleeting.

Instead, I like to focus on GOALS + INTENTIONS, and reset them monthly as a way to hold myself accountable and check in on my progress each month.

A goal or intention, unlike a resolution, is something that you adopt into your lifestyle - it becomes part of your routine. Instead of something that you may work hard to reach or attain in the short-term, but then quickly forget about or even revert back to your old ways of doing things, this is a more mindful approach to living your best life and being your best self, in my opinion.

Of course, I couldn’t let January come and go without an inspirational post for you babes, so here you are - a few of my top tips at the moment on how to stay focused + relentless on your journey to becoming the ultimate boss babe.

1. KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE PRIZE.

Each and every day, I encourage you to wake up and set your intentions for the day. Write down the things you want to accomplish, how you want to feel, maybe even how you want to interact with others, or do something differently than the day before. Every day is a gift, and I try to focus on that gratitude every morning. But I’m not going to lie - as a business owner, waking up every day with so many responsibilities can be stressful at times. There’s always a fire to put out or a problem to troubleshoot, someone who needs an answer from you, someone who needs your help in some way. It’s focusing on the bigger picture that keeps me motivated, hungry and hustling.

2. STAY IN YOUR OWN LANE.

Ahhh, this is totally my mantra for 2019. One of my favorite quotes is this - “a flower doesn’t worry about the other flowers growing next to her - she just blooms.” I have always marched to the beat of my own drum, but this year that drum is beating even louder. The more my businesses progresses and I see the fruits of my labor on display, the more consistency that I see in the types of clients we book, I believe in our brand more and more, and it’s that confidence in what we have to offer that keeps clients interested, and ultimately, hiring us. It’s easy to get caught up in what others are doing, compare ourselves, worry about others. Let’s work to quiet that chatter in our heads. Don’t worry about what anyone else is doing girl, you just do you.

3. MAKE TIME FOR FUN.

My name is Danielle Leilani and I am (what some might call) a workaholic. Honestly though, I love what I do and I love working, but I have recently really seen the benefits of taking time off and making time for fun. There have actually been full days recently where I barely looked at my phone and guess what - the world did not catch on fire! My business is still alive and well, and people were fine waiting 48 hours for an email response. Our hearts + souls drive us, so it’s important to keep them healthy and happy.

4. WORK SMARTER NOT HARDER.

I gotta say this is another mantra of mine for 2019! I am ALL about the efficiency nowadays, and it’s made a world of difference. My Modus Operandi as of late has been this: Whatever is the quickest and most efficient, yeah….let’s do that. That, to me, means sometimes picking up the phone when an email is going to draw out a conversation too long, but also sometimes means emailing instead of getting on an unnecessary phone call. I sometimes battle with feeling like I sound rude or short when asking for what I need when it comes to work, but the truth is this - we only have so many hours in the day, so we have to use them carefully + wisely.

5. EXERCISE AND EAT HEALTHY.

Keeping body + brain happy and balanced is the underlying key to it all. I recently bought a juicer, and have been making fresh juices at home. My favorite right now is basically what Nektar Juice Bar calls a “Toxin Flush” and sells for $8 a pop. Kale, Spinach, Apples, Lemon, Parsley + Ginger. SO good, and I love saving so much money by making it at home. Juicing is also really therapeutic I have come to realize! I’ve also been staying consistent with getting to yoga 2-3 times a week, and next on my list is riding my beach cruiser to the office at least a few times a month. Feeling energized starts from the inside, and it feels good to nourish my body the way it deserves.
